Cacao opens you to a deeper level of love; love of self and for others. When you eat cacao in chocolate form (my favourite way!), you feel connected in a more loving way, lifted and more relaxed. Cacao has many healing properties and has even been known to help relieve symptoms of mild depression. Known to make you feel good, soothe your heart, increasing your creativity and promote feelings of love, cacao contains a naturally occurring amino acid called Tryptophan and is a great source for phenylethylamine (PEA) which increases feelings of love.
makes 2 large hug mugs of naughtiness
10-15 dates soaked overnight
2 mugfuls of your favourite plant-based milk
1 tablespoon maca superfood
2 tablespoons raw cacao powder
Soak the dates overnight in a bowl, just cover them with water. What you want to achieve is really soft dates that are squigdy.
Add the dates with their water, your milk (you can use any plant-based milk, I used flax milk with mine, coconut milk, almond milk or hemp milk are equally as delicious), also add the maca and raw cacao powder and whizz until smooth. If you have a vitamix high speed blender you can whizz your hot choc drink until the drink is warm. You can warm the drink on the stove, heat gently and do not boil otherwise you’ll destroy all the nutrients in the superfoods. Isn’t this a gorgeous pic of the Cacao pods…
